Finance Minister Jaitley has informed Parliament that there were ‘various’ definitions of the OROP. He is misleading the nation by this statement. While there may have been various ‘interpretations’ of what the OROP ‘could be’, the ‘accepted definition’ is only one. Jaitley is doggedly trying to sell his interpretation of what the OROP ‘should be’. With his background as a lawyer and his long association with Parliament, he should know that the government does not function on personal fancy, whim and afterthoughts. ‘Banana shake’ without banana can’t be sold as banana shake, no matter how much you insist it is so.
