Avaam Ki Avaaz seeks justice for aggrieved farmers

JAMMU: Avaam Ki Avaaz President and veteran socialist Inder Mohinder Tar Singh showed great concern the way the respective government departments are working especially the Revenue Department which in connivance with land mafia is very active to dispossess the poor hapless farmers from the land they are occupying for long even so much so for the last over three to four generations.
Tar Singh informed that we have been approached by members of twenty five families of farmers who have been cultivating State-land bearing Khasra No. 1451 and 1456 of village Ranjan, Garotta area for the last over three to four generations and are being tortured by the nexus of land mafia and the Revenue Department since October 2013.
“We question all those who have been at the helm of affairs why cannot they show sincerity and honesty to rectify the problem and the present PDP-BJP Coalition Government should come forward to the rescue of these families which continuously are being threatened to leave the above land, he said.
Tar Singh on behalf of all urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take necessary action and come to the rescue of these farmers and their families and bring in transparency.
Prominent among others from Ranjan present in the press conference were Kali Dass, Puran Chand, Madan Lal, Girdhari Lal, Ganga Ram and Ram Lal.
