JAMMU: Shri Ram Sena (SRS), Jammu and Kashmir, smells foul in Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital drug store fire incident and demanded CBI inquiry in the incident.
Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, SRS State President Rajiv Mahajan said that fire in GMC Hospital on Monday night was a deliberate attempt to destroy the record and hide shortages in actual stock position. Mahajan said whenever the record of position of medicines stock is sought from the concerned authorities, store is set on fire to destroy the record adding medicines worth crores of rupees are purchased every year.
“No medicine is given to patients. Patients are asked to purchase medicines from market. Only IV fluids like dextrose and normal saline and voveran injections are given to indoor patients. Rest all other medicines are sold in market,” Mahajan said adding that he had sought information last month under RTI Act regarding availability of medicines in stock of GMC Hospital from the concerning Information Officer which was to reply within prescribed time period, but no reply was made available till date and now the very fine excuse is in place that store is gutted, record destroyed and no reply. Bungling of worth of rupees has been cleared in one go, said Mahajan. Alleging foul play in mysterious fire in medical store, Mahajan said hand of corrupt officials cannot be ruled out.
Mahajan appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Health Minister Bali Bhagat to initiate CBI inquiry in to whole episode so that fact comes to fore.
