JAMMU: A large majority of Kashmiri migrant employees, employed under Prime Ministers special package, are staging protest demonstrations under the banner of All Migrant Employees Association, Kashmir for the past over two weeks in the office of Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner in Jammu.
These employees, living in fear in transit camps, returned home following attacks there when fresh cycle of violence hit different parts of Kashmir valley in the aftermath of killing of HM terrorist Burhan Wani.
Several attempts made by the ruling party leaders and regular appeals by the State Government have failed to motivate these employees to return to work.
In contrast to this, over 20 new employees from Jammu reached Kashmir valley in the wee hours of Friday to join their duties.
“It was day one and we reached office around 5.00 A.M to avoid any inconvenience. On reaching office of the Director, Accounts and Treasuries located in Aloochi Bagh we requested the guard on duty to throw open the gates so that we can take some rest and relieve ourselves, a young Kashmiri boy from Jammu told STATE TIMES.
“When the office staff reported for duty we completed necessary formalities and heaved a sigh of relief as our mission was accomplished. Now we are feeling relaxed and waiting to see normalcy is restored soon so that we can start routine work”.
Meanwhile, in Jammu the agitating employees have so far refused to return to work and have also made it clear to the State Government that they won’t be able to go back to work till the time the question of return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homes and hearths is suitably addressed and adequate security arrangements were made to ensure their safety and security.
