VC JU should revoke ‘no work no pay’ order: NGEU

JAMMU: Deliberating on the letter issued by the Jammu University on 22nd July 2016, executive body Non-Gazetted Employees Union (NGEU) of the University on Sunday expressed strong anguished over the issues as raised by the authority to the President, NGEU.
Alleging that JU authority invoked the “no work no pay rule” for the striking employees, President, NGEU, Vijay Kumar said that such restrictions are not imposed on the strikers because Class-IV employees are working except four hours which we have announced as token strike.
“There is no evidence to create incongenial atmosphere in the university complex and employees are fully cooperating with staff of university during the admission process,” he told reporters here on Sunday.
State President JKPDTU, Suresh Sharma and Vijay strongly condemned the autocratic approach of the Vice Chancellor and opposed unwarranted and uncalled for orders of non work no pay to the peacefully agitating employees.
“The agitating employees’ grievances which stand considered from time to time by the university should have been addressed without any delay so as to avoid any confrontation with the employees,” they said.
Vijay announced that a meeting of the NGEU shall be held on Monday to discuss further modalities for intensification of the agitation from Tuesday itself which may include involvement of cooks, closing the messes and also involvement of security staff.
He appealed to the employees to remain united and ready for the decisive battle. He also appealed to Non Teaching Employees Union to see the designs of the university authorities and take decision to oppose the arbitrary action.
Suresh extended full support to the striking employees. He demanded immediate revocation of controversial order of non work no pay so as to avoid further unrest amongst the employees.
The authority claims that they have solved five out of seven demands but it is regretted to inform them that they have not received a single order so far, Vijay said.
The press conference was also attended by B.N Singh President (SKUAST), Rinku Gill President JMC, Jasmeet Madan Teacher Association President, Rajesh Kumar Secretary JKPDTU, Vijay Gupta, Electrician Department President and Banarasi Lal, Suraj Parkash, Raj Kumar Billowria , Raj Kumar Raju, Vidya Lal and Ashok Kumar.
