STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Commenting on a media report highlighting the alleged involvement of two National Conference workers in arson and loot of weapons from a Police Station in South Kashmir in wake of the killing of HM terrorist Burhan Wani, State Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party Brig Anil Gupta on Friday sought a thorough probe.
He said that NC has been thoroughly exposed and its role in the recent turmoil in Kashmir should be an eye-opener for the people of the State.
Brig Gupta quoted a report appearing in Friday’s edition of STATE TIMES by Ahmed Ali Fayyaz, reading “Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam has confirmed arrest of seven persons and said this clearly confirms that two detainees, both residents of Khul Ahmadabad, admitted that they had looted weapons from Damhal Hanjipora Police station and also fired on the local army camp from behind a crowd. Two civilians including a woman, had got killed in the shoot – out and several others injured.” It has been further stated that these two persons were “known activists of National Conference” and staunch supporters of the former Minister Sakeena Itto. According to SSP Kulgam, “These two persons had carried petrol in big plastic container from their village that is 8 kms away from Damhal Hanjipora, and set on fire CJM’s Court and thereafter the police station.”
The BJP State Spokesperson said that this expose adds credence to the earlier apprehensions that for lust of power NC leadership has joined hands with the separatists in the Valley and was doing their bidding on all contentious issues to remain in the good book of the separatists. “It is also obvious now as to why the NC boycotted the all- party meet convened by the CM on 21st July”, he said, adding, “With what face they could have attended the meeting.”
He said the boycott by NC has also exposed its dual face and double – speak.
“The party is not at all interested in the well-being of the people of the State but is willing to resort to any means to return to power. The NC leadership is unable to digest the fact that it has been rejected by the people time and again as is evident from its shrinking number of seats and vote share. Even in the recent Anantnag by-poll, the NC candidate lost his security deposit despite the venomous campaign launched by its leadership against BJP- PDP alliance” he added.
Brig Anil Gupta said that though Sakeena Itto has dismissed the report and termed it as a “conspiracy”, the allegation being too serious needs to be investigated expeditiously.
“The role of NC in fuelling the current turmoil stands exposed”, he added.
