Two J&K Wushu players to attend final selection camp

JAMMU: In all, 22-member Indian Senior Wushu team including 18 players and four coaches reached in Jinan, China for one Month foreign exposure training prior to participation in the Ninth Asian Wushu Championship to be held in Taiwan (Chinese Taipie) from 1st to 5th, September 2016. Two Jammu and Kashmir players Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh and Rajinder Singh and Chief Coach of India Kuldeep Handoo too from J and K are also members of the Indian team.
“Indian team will be back to Indian on 29th July and the selection trial for the final phase and the finalisation of the Indian team for the 9th Asian Wushu Championship will be conducted on 30th and 31st July 2016 at NS NIS Patiala,” General Secretary, Wushu Association of J and K, Kuldeep Handoo in a handout issued on Tuesday said.
The Selection Committee will be headed by the President of the Wushu Association of India Bhupender Singh Bajwa as Chairman, Suhel Ahmed-General Secretary and Manish Kacker-Senior Vice President along with the Technical Committee members.
Handoo mentioned that two campers Abhishek Jamwal and Pradeep were in the first phase of the National Coaching camp but couldn’t make berth for the foreign exposure training.
The office bearers of Wushu Association of J and K, H.K Lohia, Yogesh Sawhney, Ranjeet Kalra, Vijay Saraf, Deepak Handa, Sunil Sharma congratulated the Kuldeep Handoo, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh and Rajinder for this milestone and wished best of luck to them for the selection trial at NS NIS Patiala.
They also appealed to the government for the better facilities to the Wushu Sports in order to extract the better results from this sport in the national and international championships.
They congratulated Haqiq Ahmed for his selection for the Junior National Wushu Coaching camp at SAI Bhopal.
