Excise Commissioner visits Toll Posts at Lakhanpur, Nagri

KATHUA: Excise Commissioner, J and K Government, T. Angchok on Saturday visited the Toll Plaza Lakhanpur besides minor toll posts and reviewed their functioning along with the status of different developmental works being undertaken by the Public Works (R&B) Department.
Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, while giving an overview of the functioning of the toll post, conveyed that there has been an increase of 17.51 per cent revenue during the first three months of the current fiscal, 2016, as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The toll post has realised an amount of Rs. 145.22 lakh upto June, 2016, as compared to an amount of Rs. 123.59 lakh realised during the corresponding period of previous year, he said adding that during the month of June 2016, an amount of Rs 50.81 lakh has been realised against Rs. 43.21 lakh during June, 2015, thereby registering an increase of 17.59 per cent over the previous year.
On the enforcement front, he said, a fine of Rs 1.99 lakh has been realised against Rs 1.67 lakh during the corresponding period of previous year.
While appreciating the efforts put in by the staff of the toll post in revenue realisation, the Excise Commissioner exhorted them to perform their duties with utmost dedication and zeal to achieve the revenue fixed targets.
He further impressed upon the staff to ensure hassle free clearance of the vehicles to facilitate smooth flow of traffic and ensure that the Yatris/commuters/drivers are not put to any inconvenience. He also issued directions to the staff to remain vigilant and strengthen the enforcement activities at the minor toll posts, in addition to their primary job of revenue collection. The Excise Commissioner also inspected the ongoing construction works at Toll Post Lakhanpur during which the Executive Engineer, R&B, Kathua also accompanied him.
He issued instructions to the executing agency for early completion of the works in hand and desired for providing estimates for some proposed works at the toll post.
Later, he visited the Toll Post Nagri and took stock of the ongoing works being taken up by the Public Works Department.
The Executive Engineer, R&B Kathua was issued instructions for early completion of the works, especially the macdamisation of the yard and completion of the residential quarters for the staff at Nagri.
