Death by negligence: Accident victim’s family says police shielding culprit, demand action

UDHAMPUR: In a bizarre case which seems to expose police role in shielding a culprit for being offspring of an influential businessman, the Men in Khakhi have let a young lad involved in fatal accident to move scot-free without even mentioning his name in the FIR.
Alleging lop-sided handling of accident case in which the negligence of a car driver namely Kalu, son of Kaka, lead to death of motorcyclist Vikas Attri, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Court Road Udhampur and grave injuries to pillion rider Nitin Kumar, son of Bushan Lal, resident of Karan Nagar, the parents alleged that driver of the car who according to them belonged to an elite business class family has been accorded amnesty by the police after a covertly deal with his family. They expressed shock that police not even bothered to enter his name in the FIR, in which driver of a Tata Mobile ( JK02BC-6785), which was also hit by the car bearing temporary registration No. BL-8529 has been arrested and three vehicles involved in the accident seized. Questioning the role of police, the family demanded immediate action against the car driver and probe into police’s role in the case.
According to reports, on the ill-fated day of 12th July 2016, an accident took place near Parshotam Dham on Dhar Road in which the aforementioned car being driven negligently rammed into Tata Mobile (JK02BC-6785), which consequently hit a motorcycle JK14A-1417 leading to the death of motorcyclist Vikas Attri and inflicting grave injuries to pillion rider Nitin Kumar, who according to reports is still in coma.
