SRINAGAR: National Conference and Congress Party paid tributes to the martyrs of 1931 to mark the occasion of 86th martyrs day.
National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah visited the Mazar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Graveyard) at Ziyarat Hazrat Naqshband Sahab (RA) at Shehar-e-Khaas in Srinagar to pay tributes to the martyrs of 13th July, 1931. The NC Working President offered Fateha at the martyrs’ graveyard and offered floral tributes.
The National Conference Working President was accompanied by senior party leaders including NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Senior Leader Abdul Rahim Rather, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Mohammad Akbar Lone and Provincial President YNC Salman Ali Sagar besides various party leaders, office bearers and activists.
Omar said the sacrifices of our valiant heroes paved the way for the eradication of tyranny and autocracy from the State and sowed the seeds of democracy and dignity in our system.
“The sacrifice of the martyrs to free the society from autocracy and lay edifice for democracy and human dignity is one of the richest chapters in the history of Jammu and Kashmir”, the National Conference Working President said.
Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the current unrest in the Valley, Omar Abdullah said the State Government was unfortunately more invested in portraying a false sense of normalcy in the State rather than actually working towards normalizing the situation by ending the cycle of killings and violence.
“The primary responsibility to stop the cycle of killings and violence is that of the government and that must be done immediately. We are prepared to play whatever role necessary at the political level to improve the situation but first the government must act and ensure there is no further loss of lives”, Omar added.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation of senior party leaders and legislators led by JKPCC Chief G.A Mir visited martyr’s graveyard and offered Fateh.
Paying floral tributes to martyrs of 1931, Mir accompanied by senior party leaders recalled the sacrifices given by martyrs for the esteem of the people and State.
Stating that people of the State would remain indebted to the martyrs, PCC Chief said that they laid down their lives against suppression and autocracy and put the foundation of democracy in the State. He said the unique position of this State is because of the sacrifices of the martyrs and their sacrifices would continue to inspire the generation besides leading them to the path of peace and development.
Among others who accompanied the PCC Chief include MLA and Vice President Haji Ab. Rashid Dar, MLC Mohammad Muzaffar Parray MLA General Secretary Usman Majeed, Spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi, former Minister Raman Matoo, Mohammad Sultan, Secretaries Irfan Naqib, Abid Kashmiri, Organising Secretary Imtiyaz Khan, Kadfeen Ch. G.A Gujree, Amir Rasool and Abdul Qayoom.
