PCC chief terms unrest in Kashmir unfortunate

JAMMU: Congress on Sunday termed the current unrest in Kashmir Valley as unfortunate and anguishing. While expressing serious concern over the loss of precious lives and damages caused to property, the party sought cooperation from the people especially from the members of civil society, mainstream political parties and media fraternity to end the current unrest in order to ensure prevalence of peace, besides safety of precious lives and property.
Expressing serious concern over the volatile situation obtaining in the backdrop of killing of sixteen people, besides leaving more than 200 people injured during the protests held in entire south Kashmir and elsewhere, yesterday, JKPCC Chief G.A Mir sought cooperation from the civil society, responsible citizens, media fraternity (both national, State level) to end the tensions besides he appealed to the people to maintain calm. Cautioning that violence cannot be solution to any problem, PCC chief said that it has serious implications on the progress, development and safety of the people.
He appealed to the youth to shun violence and do not to take law in hands. Stating that casualties from either side is highly condemnable and unacceptable, Mir urged the State Government to take immediate measures to control the situation, as the continuous unrest in the Valley is fraught with dangerous consequences, ahead. Urging that the authorities dealing with law and order problem must adopt peaceful methods to bring the situation under control, PCC chief asked the forces to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with the law and order problem.
He also appealed to the people to stay away from the violence and maintain calm, as the prevalence of peace is must for the safety and security of everyone, equally.
