JAMMU: Shri Ram Sena Jammu and Kashmir has expressed serious concern over the informal attitude of the State Coalition Government for deliberately taking no serious approach to facilitate Amarnath pilgrims visiting the State from different parts of India and abroad.
Shri Ram Sena takes strong exception of looting the pilgrims by some traffic police personnel deployed to manage smooth conduct of traffic enroute Yatra right from Lakhanpur to Srinagar.
Addressing a press conference here today, Shri Ram Sena State President, Rajiv Mahajan said that harassment of Amarnath pilgrims at the hands of traffic police has exposed the ill attention of Coalition Government. Mahajan said it is a deliberate intentional attempt of Coalition Government to spoil the peaceful atmosphere.
Mahajan said nearly one thousand Traffic Police personnel have been deployed enroute Yatra from Lakhanpur to Srinagar, some of whom demand money from the owners of the pilgrim vehicles. Mahajan said and added that some of the pilgrims brought this shameful matter in to his notice. One of the vehicle owner said that he has paid about Rs 1,000 from Lakanpur to Jammu only.
Mahajan appealed the DGP to take cognizance of the matter and take personal interest to sort out the shortcomings and take stern action against the corrupted officials.
Mahajan mentioned that Governor, N.N Vohra who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, in a meeting said that Yatra vehicles coming from other states of country will be checked only at Lakanpur and after completing all formalities, would be given clearance and thereafter no one will check them enroute Yatra from Lakanpur to Pahalgam to minimise harassment of pilgrims. But contrary to that, the newly formed PDP- BJP Coalition Government is leaving no opportunity to go waste to harass the pilgrims, which seems deliberate attempt of State Government to fail the ever increasing and popular Amarnath Yatra.
Mahajan said the mismanagement, chaos and casual approach of the State Government is an intentional move to mar the peaceful world famous Amarnath Yatra by sending wrong signals to world around that only thieves reside in Jammu and Kashmir.
