Wrestler Teju clinches Nagri Dangal title

KATHUA: Wrestler Teju won the main bout by defeating Zaqir of Jammu and clinched the wrestling competition title held at village Pamual Nagri, here on Wednesday.
Dev Raj Soni, renowned social worker of the area, was the Chief Guest and Pradhan Sodagarmal organised the wrestling competition.
Other dignitaries who witnessed the competition were (Retd.) Chief Manager M.L Sharma, (Retd.) Assistant Commissioner Punjab Chand and (Retd.) DySP Anchal Dass.
A total of 25 bouts were played during the day-long event. While addressing, D.R Soni said it is not only the responsibility of the government to promote sports in rural areas but the people especially senior citizens should also come forward to promote the activity.
“Such activities keep youth away from drug abuse,” he said adding that these events also boost the morale of rural youth.
He congratulated the winner and appreciated the Pardhan for organizing such wrestling competitions.
The committee members who contributed for smooth conduct of Dangal include Balbir Singh, Fakkar Singh, Vijay Kumar, Subash Mehra, Kumar Soni, Ravi Sani, Ashok Gupta, Suresh Basotra, Rajinder Sharma and Ram Krishan Verma.
