Heavy winds causes damage to houses

UDHAMPUR: Unprecedented tornado with its velocity over 100 kms caused extensive loss to public property in Udhampur late in the night on Tuesday. Temporary Langars setup all along national highway were damaged, particularly the one setup by Faridabad based devotees was completely damaged causing heavy loss of ration and the infrastructure. Window panes of dozens of houses were damaged.
According to reports yesterday midnight unprecedented heavy rain fall, thundering and tornado damaged houses and Shiv Langar in city and its outskirts in Udhampur. Velocity of tornado and thundering was so high and speedy that normal life was disrupted even at night hours. Many Kacha houses and roofs of shops were damaged. Beside this number of hoarding of the shops and other business establishment, were damaged. Source said that apart from this over a dozen Langars setup all along with national highway right from bypass to Kud locality were fully damaged. While many trees had fallen which blocked the road and were removed later.
Meanwhile this wind storm also hit Nowshera where electric poles were damaged due to which there was no power and water.
