Market checking team books erring traders

POONCH : On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, a joint market checking team from different law enforcing agencies checked various business establishments today here at Poonch to verify the quality and rates of essential commodities particularly, vegetables, fruits, meat and chicken during Ramdhan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
During checking the team found some items of poor quality and the shopkeepers had not displayed the rate lists.
The checking officers also found shopkeepers selling unstamped meat, using unverified weighing scales and domestic gas cylinders for commercial purpose. The team booked the erring shopkeepers and realised a fine of Rs 28,300.
The officers of the team informed that surprise market checking shall be on regular basis and on complaint a particular violating trader shall be booked immediately for further stringent action under rule.
The joint inspection team comprised of Tehsildar, CEO Municipal Committee, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology and other field official including inspector of Legal Metrology, Food Safety and Municipal Committee Poonch.
