JAMMU: Expressing anguish and displeasure over the huge enhancement in the salaries of Jammu and Kashmir legislators by the government, Shafiq Mir, Chairman All J and K Panchayat Conference, said that this is the same State where senior citizens and widows have not been given mere Rs 200 pension for the past six months, while the government has enhanced legislatures salary from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,60,000 per month.
“Now enough is enough and these looters will face public furry soon if the decision is not rolled back,” he said.
In a statement issued here, Mir described the self centric and selfish move of all legislators to enhance their salary as unfortunate and equal to pouring salt on the wounds of lakhs of unemployed educated youth. He said that due to such injustices the State of Jammu and Kashmir has been facing bloodshed for the past about three decades and these were the people responsible for all this. Mir further said that the present turmoil in the State of Jammu and Kashmir is the result of the injustices done to the youth of the State of which all the responsibility lies on such politicians who have always been looting taxpayers money shamelessly .
Threatening to start a State level awareness campaign among the masses about the misdeeds of these so called legislators and their party bosses, Mir said that they will soon face public furry.
Holding all parties equally responsible for this loot, Shafiq Mir said that when the personal interest comes there is no ideological difference for any party and all were seen on the same page.
“It is strange neither Mehbooba Mufti nor Omar Abdullah expressed a single word against this
decision.
Now the State Government has no right to say that the State was not in position to give employment and there is no justicification to pay mere Rs 1,500 to the ReT teachers who are highly qualified and working for entire day. Mir further said that what can be more shameful that the State has not paid mere Rs 200 pension to its citizen for the past six months but it makes laws to shower all treasuries on its legislator.
