Death of employees, lack of coordination in PDD: Jugal

JAMMU: Members of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma and Shamsher Singh Manhas, on Monday chaired a meeting of PDD senior officials and reviewed the working of the department, particularly the measurers being undertaken to ensure regular supply of electricity.
Jugal, while expressing grave concern over the recent deaths of PDD employees due to electric current, said that it is the result of lack of coordination in the department.
He said that two employees lost their lives in Burn in Jammu few days ago, yesterday also two PDD employees died under same circumstances in Pargwal and even today two more employees got injured at same place.
He said that the department should immediately take steps to ensure that such incidents do not repeat.
He also took stock of the progress in implementation of RAPDRP scheme in urban areas and stressed upon immediate taking up of Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Gram Jyoti Yojana in rural areas which was started in 2015 by PM Narendra Modi but has failed to see the light in our State.
Manhas said that the PDD need to review the power supply as well as the working of infrastructure at all levels and in case of any failure, immediate steps should be taken to provide respite to the consumers.
He said that no leniency would be tolerated if the PDD officials adopt delaying tactics in mitigating the sufferings of the people.
Samba MLA Dr. Devinder Manyal, Akhnoor MLA Rajeev Sharma, R.S Pura MLA Dr. Gagan Bhagat, Chhamb MLA Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat, MLC S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, PDD Chief Engineer Ashwani Gupta, PDD Planning Chief Engineer Som Dutt, Executive Engineers and other senior officials of PDD took part in the meeting.
