Inquiry demanded into poor construction of Mian Bagh Road

UDHAMPUR: Senior Congress leader and State Secretary of Indian National Trade Union Congress Sumeet Magotra toured village Mian Bagh area in connection to access the worst condition of road from Mian Bagh to Railway Station which covers about ten villages. He was accompanied by Sarpanch and the Lamberdar of the area.
It was disclosed that government has sanctioned Rupees 1.36 corer for the construction of 5 km road from Mian Bagh to Railway Station and its construction work was initiated in 2011 through R&B and PWD Departments but the road is in such a condition that even pedestrian could not walk on it right from the beginning. Inhabitants of the area also disclosed to the Congress leader that PHE Department had constructed a water filling station in this area few years back without the consent of locals and every day heavy water tankers of different departments fill water tankers from this filing station resulting this single lane road getting badly damaged. It is unfortunate that concerned authorities have never bothered to care for this road, they said. Sumeet Magotra while interacting with people expressed that it is strange the road is badly damaged which was constructed at a cost of rupees 1.36 crore and should be inquired into. Sumeet Magotra along with locals demonstrated against R&B and PWD Departments raising slogans against district administration for not taking appropriate action in this regard. Magotra gave an ultimatum of one week to the district administration to initiate the renovation work of this road and also initiate an inquiry into deteriorated condition of the road even after an expenditure of huge amount. Otherwise Congress workers along with locals will start hunger strike against district administration and also block Dhar Road and Mian Bagh Roads, he cautioned.
