JAMMU: Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, Priya Sethi on Friday flagged off border tour bus service for Shri Amarnath pilgrims from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
While flagging off four buses, the minister said that efforts have been made to take the pilgrims to the nearest tourist destinations of Jammu during their stay in Jammu. The Department of Tourism in collaboration with JKSRTC is operating these tour buses from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar to city tour and Suchetgarh Border.
The Border Tour bus will cover the Suchetgarh BOP and its adjoining places with ticket price of Rs.200 and Rs.100 respectively.
The city tour buses will cover Ranbireshwar Temple, Raghunath Temple, Peer-Kho, Bawey Wali Mata, Amar Mahal Palace, Mubarak Mandi, Balidaan Stambh whereas other buses will cover Suchetgarh Border and its adjoining places.
Director Tourism Sushma Chauhan informed the Minister that steps have been taken to make the journey of pilgrims comfortable with drinking water onboard. The tourist guides have been hired to facilitate and educate the tourists regarding tourist destinations enroute and the Department will extend the services to other tourist destinations of Jammu in near future, she added. A cultural programme of varied dance traditions of J&K was also scheduled to be organized by Tourism Department in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu. Deputy Director Tourism, Publicity, Jammu, Er. SK Attri, Deputy Director Tourism, Vinakshi Koul, GM, JKSRTC, Sudesh Gupta and other officers of tourism and other departments were present on the occasion.
