JAMMU: Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No 2 Jammu Cantt won the opening match of Subroto Cup under-14 Football Tournament for boys being organised by KVS Suburto Mukherjee Sports Education at GGM Science College ground, here on Tuesday.
In the inaugural match, KV No 2 Jammu Cantt outplayed KV No 2 Pathankot. Other matches played today were won by KV No 1 Srinagar, KV No 2 Udhampur and KV No 2 Srinagar outplaying KV No 4 Jalander, KV Miran Sahib and KV Nagrota respectively.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guest, A.S Gill, Assistant Commissioner Jammu in the presence of Satpal Singh, football coach. Principal of GGM Science College Ajit Angral was the Special Guest of the day.
Rita Bhaskar, Incharge Principal KV No 2 Jammu Cantt and senior teacher of the Vidyalaya, officials and coaches of the football tournament received the Chief Guest. A crisp culture program of welcome song and Jazba dance was presented by students of KV No 2 Jammu Cantt.
Nine teams from different Vidyalayas with 162 players and two coaches were present on the occasion. They will play 19 matches from 28th to 30th June, 2016.
