JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police Crime Branch (CB), Jammu on Sunday observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
In the morning session SSP Crime Branch, Jammu Mubassir Latifi in presence of all the officers/officials flagged off an Anti Drug Awareness Campaign Vehicle from the Zonal Headquarters, Crime Branch, Jammu which started the mobile campaigning in the entire Jammu city throughout the day, made the general masses aware through announcements regarding the evils of the drugs on their children and the society and distributed pamphlets/posters containing anti drug themes.
Latifi made an appeal to the public to strictly keep a close watch on their children in order to keep them away from the evils of drugs. He also laid emphasis upon the general public to keep an eye on those unscrupulous elements who are selling the poison in the form of drugs to innocent school going children and advised them to share all such information regarding such elements with the nearest police stations and the Crime Branch for initiation of legal action. He further said that lot of measures have been taken by the J and K Police to curb the drug menace but it requires a holistic approach which requires involvement of not only the law enforcement agencies but parents, teachers, NGOs and civil society as a whole.
