JAMMU: During holy Ramzan, a surprise inspection of meat, mutton and other eateries was conducted by the joint teams of Jammu Municipal Corporation, CAPD, Metrology Department, Drug and Food Department and Police Department. The teams headed by ACG Jammu, Sachin Jamwal along with Municipal Veterinary Officer/Zonal Officer-II (Sanitation) Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Assistant Director CAPD, Ghulam Rasool and the officers of the above said departments.
The areas where the inspections conducted include Shahidi Chowk, Talab Khatikan, etc. The meat and chicken sellers were directed to maintain proper hygienic conditions and provide good quality of chicken and meat. The team also spread awareness regarding the use of gloves while handling the food items besides wearing aprons and caps and shunning the use of polythene carry bags.
A compound fine of Rs. 4,700 was also realised by the teams from the defaulters.
