Since the time 1947, the Jammu people have been crying for discrimination with Jammu and many agitations were led by the people to expose the nefarious designs of Kashmir centric leadership. If we track down the outcome of such agitations, we will find that in spite of long lasting agitations, we never got the due share that may be in the sphere of equal distribution of funds, field of employment, development, share of tourism promotion, educational institutions, creation of new Districts, Tehsils and Blocks, health sector, implementation of many centrally sponsored schemes and what not. This was considered as lack of strengthened representation accorded to a particular political party from Jammu. The people never analysed why the Kashmir politics ever remained a dominating force. Now the things are becoming clear day by day with the exposure of real faces of our leaders of national political parties i.e. Congress and BJP and it has become crystal clear that who so ever was the representative from these parties from Jammu region, he remained a yes boss to the Kashmir leadership and instead of projecting the real problems of discrimination were always on the forefront for their own gains and benefits. We remember the statement of ex-CM Omar Abdullah, a straight forward and man of wits that many representatives from Jammu come to him for MBBS seats, engineering seats and for their own benefits. It was considered at that time a hollow statement from CM owing to the reason that Jammu representatives used to project the problems at a very high pitch in Jammu although they were always clinging to the policy of yes boss and massage of the Kashmir politicians. The recent expose on the subject came in a public meeting by CM on 14th June, where the dais was shared by Dy CM, MP Jugal Sharma, BJP State President Sat Sharma and others, when she categorically and as a real hero stated based on facts that ‘Dr Sahib, please forgive me but I am sorry to say that Jammu did not get the type of leadership as Kashmiris got. In Kashmir there are a number of leaders but in Jammu you hardly find any leader who could address people’s aspirations. There was some dearth of leaders in Jammu who could rightly project the demands of the people of the region at the State and national level. The national political parties including the Congress and Bhartiya Jan Sangh, were also responsible for creating a situation in the State that did not allow any one from Jammu to conduct himself in the manner Dogra conducted all through his life. The people of Jammu province were consistently given by the national parties to understand that their opposition to Kashmir leadership and Kashmir people will alienate Kashmiri Muslims from India and would result in the separation of Kashmir from India. In fact it was national leadership that rendered the people of Jammu province weak and left the Jammu-based leadership with no other option but to dance to the tune of their Kashmiri masters. Our leaders have to cut a sorry figure on this expose”. The CM only spoke the truth. The expose of the leaders of Jammu by CM on the very face of them have added to the eroding expectations from these ministers and MLAs for any betterment for Jammuites. So it can well be arrived at that presently representation of 25 candidates given to BJP from Jammu is also being exploited by the Central leadership to appease the Kashmiri politicians and these are mere puppets playing in the hands of Kashmir politics and have become deaf and dumb to understand and see the problems of Jammuites. These BJP ministers and MLAs have surrendered in total and are acting as catalyst to boost the Kashmir agenda of politics at the cost of Jammu people. They are trying to exhibit their secular character (which they do not have) by adopting Kashmir based religious places of a particular community and allowing the desecration of Jammu based Hindu places (which happened immediately after Dy CM adopted Charar-i- Sharif for development).
The representative of people in Jammu who are Modi product can well be termed as self styled leaders and they are not real leaders of people but people have to vote for them owing to no justified and competent leader. Moreover these are the people who are expert in exploiting the people’s sentiments on one issue or other and are not less than their central leaders in befooling the people and as such achieved their win. We find many opportunists in the political parties, who change their loyalty in the direction where wind flows and thus they have to obey the dictates of that party, otherwise they can be thrown out like garbage from the dustbin. These are shameless creatures and without caring for the voice of people they occupy treasury benches not for concern of common man but for achieving their ugly and nefarious designs. Many ministers were exposed for managing proxy candidates in entrances exams for MBBS, tailoring communal violence, encroaching upon Govt. / forest lands, amassing huge properties indulging in criminal activities and what not. They stand exposed on the floor of house by their colleagues for their misdeeds but they feel proud of these revelations, instead of quitting from the ministries and to face the Court trials. These are criminal activities of these representatives but thank to the Constitution which allows them to make laws for fine society. When such leaders are repeated again and again by the parties, one can well understand the real face of such parties and it also reflects about poor understanding of the voters which is illiteracy and nothing else. Larry Hardiman quotes that word ‘politics is derived from the word ‘poly’, meaning many, and the word ‘ticks’, meaning blood sucking parasites’. The mushroom growth of self styled politicians in Jammu is due to the fact that many intelligent, god fearing, real human beings having concern for the common man shriek to come forward because of the reasons of criminality occupying large space in political parties. One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. A beautiful quote by unknown sounds to me that “Politicians and diapers have one thing in common – they both should be changed regularly and for the same reason”. We need a new breed of politicians having deeper sincerity of motive, a greater courage in speech and earnestness in action, before Jammu can be cleansed of its diseased politicians. Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. In order to carry a positive action, we must develop a positive vision. The words of Demi Lovato, an American singer, song writer, actress and model that “No matter what you’re going through, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you’ll find the positive side of things” are strength to move forward for the upcoming well wishers of Jammuites.
