Remove loudspeakers from all places of worship: Shri Ram Sena
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Expressing concern over day to day communal tension in sensitive State of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Ram Sena State President Rajiv Mahajan appealed to the State Government to implement Supreme Court verdict in toto of banning use of loudspeakers at all religious places.
Thanking the Muslim community for objecting to the use of a loudspeaker in a Temple at Poonch, Mahajan demanded the State Government to implement the Court order and issue orders that loudspeakers should be removed from all places of worship, irrespective of religion, in the State.
He said that loudspeakers, irrespective of whether they were used in mosques, temples, Gurdwaras or churches, must be confiscated as they cause noise pollution.
“They are a source of continuous noise pollution. If loudspeakers are inconveniencing citizens, I would say the religious places should remove them,” he said. He asked government to direct the police to prohibit religious places from using loudspeakers.
Mahajan said, recently the Central Government while complying with the Supreme Court’s directive made a provision in Central Acts prohibiting noise pollution by amplifiers, loudspeakers, music system etc. but there is still scant knowledge of such a ban among common people and even the law enforcement machinery of Jammu and Kashmir State has miserably failed to implement the provisions of the Central Act as well as the State Noise Pollution Act.
