Federation of Industries submits memo to Union Minister

JAMMU: A delegation of Federation of Industries, Jammu led by its Chairman Lalit Mahajan presented a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman during her visit to Jammu in the presence of Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore.
During the course of discussions, Mahajan requested the minister for the extension of incentives under DIPP packages and other central package of incentives on the pattern of North Eastern Package for a period of ten years to encourage the entrepreneurs for investment in J and K State in the industrial sector.
The Federation of Industries sought extension of DIPP package of incentives for 10 years which is going to expire on 14th June 2017 with a provision of naturalisation of Khasra to new as well as to existing units under Substantial Expansion Programme for ten years. Simplification of guidelines for claiming freight subsidy incentives, freight subsidy for the import of raw materials from Dry Port Ludhiana and for the dispatch of finished goods meant for export to naturalise the additional cost of transportation of raw materials/finished goods. Timely release of funds for the payment sanctioned cases of Central Package of Incentives and one time relaxation in the condition for the submission of claims under DIPP package of incentives for the time barred cases lying with the Industries Department was also demanded.
The delegation also demanded restoration of refund of 100 per cent Central Excise Duty paid, 100 per cent Income Tax exemption for industrial units, inclusion of industrial goods manufactured in J and K in the list of items for cross- LoC trade and the opening of trade routes i.e. Pallanwala – Chhambh, Nowshehra – Mirpur and opening of Suchetgarh (Jammu District) route for international trade of goods with other part of Pakistan on the pattern of Wagha Border, setting up of mother industry, exemption to industrial sector from the preview of Goods and Services Tax in respect of fiscal benefits under central package of incentive, compulsory purchase by Central Government organization from MSME and large scale units of J and K, establishment of Inland Container Depot with rail line connectivity and development of new infrastructure for industrial sector of J and K.
The Union Minister assured the delegation that she will resolve the issues related to her ministry and take up the matter with the Central Government for speedy industrial growth in the J and K State which will provide employment to local unemployed youths of the State.
The meeting was also attended by Rajesh Jain, Vijay Aggarwal, Ajit Bawa, Romesh Badyal, Jatinder Aul, (Co-Chairmen), Ajay Langer Convener and Harinder Gupta.
