SRINAGAR: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary on Tuesday said that dredging work of River Jhelum is being carried out in Sonawari constituency. He said that in this regard one dredger and two JCBs have been pressed into service on hourly contract basis, further adding that the work has not been allotted to any contractor.
The minister was responding to the issue raised by Mohammad Akbar Lone in the Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi directed the government to see whether the tenders have been floated for dredging work or not, adding that flouting of any rules by any official should be taken seriously.
