Educational institutions celebrate International Yoga Day

JAMMU: Yoga Camp organised by National College of Education, Purkhoo, concluded on Tuesday.
Students and teachers organised Yoga Camp in slum areas wherein they told about the benefits of yoga. Students also performed many Aasans and other yogic activities with children and people of slum area.
Teachers and students also performed yoga in college premises. Yoga was started with lighting of lamp by Dean Administration of College, Ajay Jamwal who told how yoga gives calm and peace to the body.
Principal, Dr. Manju Dwivedi, told the benefits of Padmasan, Shirshasan, Bhujangasan and Pranayam. Neena Sharma, Indu Raina, Neetu Sharma, Yashumati Jamwal, Tanwant Kour, Deepika, Kavita, Sunita, Diasy and others were also present.
Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) celebrated International Yoga Day in the college campus in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Jammu. The staff of various colleges of Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions viz. Yogananda College of Engineering AND Technology, IECS, North Polytechnic, National College of Education participated in the event. Tania Mengi, Assistant Professor, IMS, welcomeD the members of the Bhartiya Yog Sansthan and all the staff members of various colleges. The yoga trainers Kewal Abrol, Vinod Mattoo, Usha Bhat and Seema Jamwal highlighted the importance of yoga. All the staff members performed yoga with great enthusiasm.
Renu Bangroo, Managing Director, presented a memento to the members of the Bhartiya Yog Sansthan. Prof. J.R Dhotra, Director IMS, presented vote of thanks.
NSS Wing of Government Polytechnic, Bikam Chowk, celebrated International Day of Yoga at its campus. Mahima Sharma and Souhard Narang trained the students about the wide ranging styles of yoga.
The programme went on for two hours and the students felt relaxed and rejuvenated, and pledged to practice yoga daily. The programme was organised under the guidance of NSS Coordinator Khalid Sheikh.
In connection with the International Yoga Day, the Central University of Jammu celebrated it at Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony here today. A large number of university teachers, officers and non-teaching employees participated in the programme.
The celebration of International Day of Yoga was divided into three parts which included performance of yoga Aasans by the university employees and the members of Vichar Kranti Manch International.
Dr. D.L Choudhary, Incharge, The Yoga Centre, CUJ gave a view of ongoing yoga activities in the university. Sanjay Asin, Yoga Teacher from the J and K Government along with his team of students namely Iva, Ranjit Singh, Priyanka, Sahil Mehra and Goinka performed various Yog Aasans.
The first, second and third prizes were also given to the winner of the event.
Prof. Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator of CUJ gave away prizes, mementos and cash to the winners of the event. Certificates to the participants were given by Prof. Lokesh Verma, Dr. D.L Choudhary and Jit Singh Registrar of CUJ.
The vote of thanks was
presented by Prof. N.K Tripathi and proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Bharti Gupta of Department of TTM.
Prominent among those who were present on this occasion were Prof. S.K.Sharma, Prof. S.D.Sharma, Prof. Deepshikha Kotwal and Prof. Devanand.
WP NSS Unit of MIER College of Education in collaboration with NCC Unit of Model Academy organised a yoga camp in which more
than 50 volunteers and staff members of MIER participated. Dr. Renu Gupta,
Director, MIER along with Prof. N.R Sharma, Dean Academics and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HoD, B.Ed Special Education and NSS Programme Officer, P.K. Srivastava, Principal Model Academy graced the occasion.
The Principal Model Academy introduced the Resource Person Dinesh Sharma, Yoga Instructor, Model Academy to the audience.
Dinesh elaborated upon
various forms of Aasnas and Pranayams and highlighted the adverse impact of
Asanas if done incorrectly or without proper guidance and various Do’s and Don’ts while practicing.
The resource person urged the audience to continue the practice of yoga in their life and also to spread the message of yoga in the society.
The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks which was presented by Dr. Rohnika Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, NSS Unit MIER College of Education.
NITS Polytechnic, Indira Nagar, celebrated International Yoga Day in association with the Art of Living Jammu Chapter.
The programme was conducted by Savinder Gupta, an AOL Teacher and Director NITS Polytechnic along with Tejasvi, a AOL Yoga Teacher and Students Welfare Officer of the institute. Around 950 people including the students, staff and general public participated in this event.
Tejasvi said that the Day is meant to create awareness about yoga and create an interest in a healthier living.
Savinder Gupta said that yoga is all about regaining our balance and coming back to our natural state and it will be an integral part of day to day activities in the institute.
He appreciated the efforts made by Tejasvi, Anirudh Gupta, Yaseer, Pradeep and Ayush for organising the programme successfully.
