JAMMU: The Sanskrit Teachers Association, Jammu and Kashmir, strongly condemned the State Education Department, J and K Service Recruitment Board, J and K Public Service Commission and State Government for giving step-motherly treatment to the Sanskrit language and for not recognizing the certificates, diplomas and degrees obtained from Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. In this regard the association led by its President Dr Vinod Kumar Shastri submitted a memorandum to Director, J and K Board of School Education seeking solution of the problems being faced by the Sanskrit followers in the State. In the memorandum, Shastri narrated that in the State’s step motherly treatment being given to the ancient Vedic language ‘Sanskrit’ shows the negligence attitude and approach of the State Government towards the Sanskrit which creates terrible situation for the Sanskrit students, scholars, doctorates and readers. “To preserve Sanskrit for all round development, Ministry of Education, Government of India, set up Sanskrit Commission in 1956. Based on the recommendations of Sanskrit Commission, GoI constituted a Central Sanskrit Board which recommended the establishment of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. Accordingly Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan was established on 15 October 1970 for the development of Sanskrit learning and research all over the country and abroad. The Sansthan is fully financed by Central Government which works as vital agency in the field of Sanskrit,” he added.
Dr Shastri pointed out that during D.P.C process State Recruitment Board is not considering ‘Acharya’ degree from Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan which is equivalent to the M.A degree. He mentioned that during the verification of documents of ReTs teachers the officers concerned writing on their files as ‘Study Centre’ in place of Deemed University. He also criticized the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission for not recognising the degree of ‘Acharya’ from Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan during the selection process of college lecturers for the post of Sanskrit subject. Shastri requested the Director BOSE to ensure that fair justice is done with the Sanskrit teachers during the process of selection and DPC by the State Authorities failing which the association has left no other option to adopt an agitational path. Later, the association has also submitted a copy of memorandum to the State BJP Organising Secretary, Ashok Koul in support of their demands.
