ANANTNAG: Senior PDP leader and Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri on Friday said that the people of Anantnag will give decisive reply to parties who had left the district in a morass of underdevelopment, corruption and mis-governance.
Veeri said that Anantnag has been always ignored by the previous regimes causing people to suffer, but the present PDP led government has undertaken number of initiatives and started various programmes to reshape the destiny of entire district.
“The opposition is trying to divide the people in the name of various non-existent issues but people of Anantnag are mature enough and they will never allow such forces to succeed,” said Veeri.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Dayalgam, Pethbug, Shithan, Kamar, Che, Anchidora, Malaknag, Nayi basti, Chicharpora and Shirpora, Veeri said that it was a dream of late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayed to make Anantnag a model constituency in every sphere of life and he took number of initiatives in this regard. “The present government under Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is taking forward the mission of progress and development started by late Mufti Mohammed Sayed,” said Veeri.
While highlighting the historic work done by Peoples Democratic Party, Veeri said that number of projects worth crores of rupees have been taken up in Anantnag and people are already cherishing the fruits of historic development.
The minister said that people of Anantnag are politically mature enough to understand the mechanisations of the opposition party who during their long tenure have not done anything tangible to the district besides promoting their own cronies. He said that several flagship programmes and initiatives have been undertaken by the PDP Government for the holistic and sustained development of this historic district.
Seeking a clear mandate for his party, Veeri asserted that Assembly bypolls of Anantnag Constituency would be a unique opportunity for the people to continue the good governance started by PDP. He said that the emergence of People’s Democratic Party as a credible alternate provides a unique opportunity to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to invest in the vision of development, prosperity and peace. “Earlier it used to be single dominant party, which had developed monopoly and exploited people for its own political and vested interest but today the people have a choice to accept and reject political parties on the basis of performance and vision”, he said.
Veeri said that the opposition parties are restoring to mislead the people of the area by false propaganda but the people are mature enough to understand their game plan and would give a befitting reply to them by voting enmass for the party. He appealed the people to exercise their franchise in favour of the PDP which has always stood for projecting the cause of Kashmiris before various fora.
