KATRA: Wrestler Benia Min of J and K Police (JKP) lifted 112th Annual Bani Wrestling title by defeating Wrestler Jagdev of Ludhiana in Punjab in a tough fight which lasted for 24 minutes. The Dangal was organised by Manwal Dangal Committee in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association (JKISWA) under the overall supervision of President JKISWA, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Balwant Raj.
In all, 58 bouts were played in the day long Dangal wherein wrestlers from Delhi, UP, Punjab, Haryana, J and K and Chandigarh participated.
Senior BJP Leader Nand Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the wrestlers. District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association President Sunil Badyal and Deputy Director Planning Uttam Singh were the Guests of Honour.
Prominent persons present on the occasion were Dr. B.D Gupta, SHO Ashiq Bukhari, Sarpanch Anil Sharma, Sarpanch Rehmat Ali, Sarpanch Balwant Raj, Industrialist Udhay Bir Singh, Muna Khan, Sukhdev Singh, Dhiyan Chand, Gouri Singh Contractor, Numberdar Bishan Dass, Om Parkash Verma, Bittu Raina, Sat paul and Ex. Sarpanch Kishori Lal Sharma.
Benia was awarded with cash prize of Rs 36,000 while runner-up wrestler Jagdev got Rs 25,000. Prizes were given by Nand Kishore Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch Balwant Rai and Sunil Badyal. Nand Kishore also contributed Rs 11,000 as financial assistance to the organisers.
