JAMMU: The J and K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) remembered the Martyr Brigadier Rajinder Singh, on his Birth Anniversary, at Bal Niketan, Ved Mandir, Amphalla.
The function was organised by the President of the Association, Ved Gandotra wherein Dr. Mohan Lal Meenia, ENT Specialist was the Chief Guest.
Floral tributes were paid to the great Martyr, who saved Kashmir from the aggression of Pakistani intruders in 1947, by showering flower petals on the photograph of the Brigadier and candles were also lit in his honour.
The members narrated the life history of Brigadier Rajinder Singh and his struggle at the war front saying that when most of his soldiers had laid down their lives he stood there till last drop of his blood and got martyrdom. The nation, especially the State of J and K cannot forget his sacrifice, the members said and added that the youth of the Valley must understand that the vested political outfits and the separatists were misleading them and they should desist from violence and work for strong and prosperous nation.
The members also remembered the freedom fighters and the martyrs, who sacrificed everything in the freedom struggle against the British Rule.
They remembered Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Chander Sekhar Azad, Maharani Laxmi Bai, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Sukhdev, Ashfaq-ullah-Khan, Mangal Pandey and Hav. Abdul Hamid. Sweets were distributed among the children who chanted National Anthem with National Flags in their hands.
Prominent persons present were State President, Shri Ram Sena, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan, Parbhat Kapahi, Rajinder Singh, Ravinder Singh and Sunita Sharma.
