PAK MAPMumbai:- A Pakistani national staying here has been accused of involvement in unlawful activities, violating visa norms, and a local resident has written to the Centre demanding his deportation.

Mohammad Shafiq Qureshi, a resident of suburban Bhandup, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking deportation of Pakistan national Sayyad Wasim-Ur-Rehman.

Qureshi, who dashed off his letter last week, has accused Sayyad, who also resides in Bhandup, of creating nuisance and involvement in unlawful activities.

Qureshi has said, “This Pakistani national is involved in all sorts of criminal activities, including usurping property, and local police station has registered three complaints against him. Additionally, he has been flouting all the terms and conditions of visa.”

The Mumbaikar wrote the letter after he filed an RTI query with Union Home Ministry and came to know Sayyad was living here on ‘X-visa’, but owing to a few cases against him, his visa has been extended up to July 25, 2016.

Along with his letter, Qureshi has attached copies of multiple RTI queries furnished by Deputy Secretary (visa) of Union Home Ministry R Sundar and Inspector of Crime Branch at Bhandup Police Station.

Replying to Qureshi’s query, Sundar has written, “Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad issued X-visa on October 10, 2010 to Sayyad which was initially valid till November 16, 2010. However, he has been granted subsequent extensions from time to time due to pending court cases. His visa is now valid up to July 25, 2016.”

However, an RTI filed by another local resident, Girija Prasad M Dhulia, has revealed all the cases filed against Sayyad with Bhandup police has been disposed.

X-Visa is granted to a foreigner of Indian origin, who wishes to come to India for visiting relatives, holiday etc.

According to rules, the initial validity of such a visa shall not exceed one year which may be extended on year- to-year basis up to 5 years.
