‘Pakistan funds Kashmiri terrorists through hawala’
Separatists asked to raise pitch against Sainik, KP colonies

JAMMU: Militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir are paid through the hawala routes by their mentors in Pakistan and their emoluments are decided based on their work from stone-pelting to big terror attacks, a report said.
Citing an Indian Army report, the India Today reported that the militant commanders are paid between Rs.10,000 to Rs.200,000 depending on their work in the Valley.
It also said that those in the lower rung of the hierarchy are paid through hawala channels while those in senior positions are paid through various financial systems.
The report comes, as the Valley witnessed a surge in terror attacks over the past few months.
Meanwhile, Kashmiri separatists, who are also alleged to be on the pay role of Pakistani agencies have chalked out an exhaustive progamme to observe anniversary of 2010 stone pelters who were killed while making security forces their target.
Incidentally, the anniversary falls on the day when security agencies are on high alert to ensure smooth Kheer Bhawani Mela with thousands of Kashmiri Pandits thronging from Jammu and across the country to attend the annual religious congregation.
The separatists Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik are jointly organising a daylong seminar at Hyderpora on Sunday in which they are going to raise pitch against the issue of Sainik and Pandit colonies in Kashmir. Some mainstream political outfits like National Conference have also lend their support against setting up of these colonies.
Security agencies believe the tirade against these colonies as handiwork of elements inimical to peace across the borders who want to keep Kashmir boiling.
“Such activities are adequately being funded by Pakistan through hawala channels,” said a retired police officer who has been actively engaged with anti militancy operations.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani is already facing serious charges on money laundering through hawala channels.
In a statement, Hurriyat Spokesman said that alike the main stream politicians who took up this issue in the State Assembly, they will also chalk out a programme to discuss this matter with an open mind.
