Three arrested with narcotics in Jammu

trikuka nagarJAMMU: Three persons were arrested and a large quantity of narcotics seized from their possession in two separate incidents in Jammu city on Saturday, a police officer said.
A truck bearing registration number JK03D-1578 coming from Kashmir was intercepted at Trikuta Nagar area at a Naka laid by SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria assisted by PSI Vikas Sharma. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of six bags consisting 60 kg of poppy straw, said the officer.
Two persons, identified as Zahood Ahmed and Kulwant Singh, both residents of Pulwama district, were arrested, he added.
In another incident, police conducted a raid in Dashmesh Nagar area and arrested one Ramesh Kumar, son of Bhajan Lal, resident of Chak Bala, Tehsil R.S Pura, at present Dashmesh Nagar Digiana. Five grams of heroin was seized from his possession, said the officer.
All the three were arrested and booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he added.
