DODA: A cloudburst on Friday afternoon triggered flash floods damaging standing maize crops and a portion of road in Marmat area of Doda district.
“A cloudburst that occurred around 2.30 p.m. at Prabbal Village of Tehsil Marmat has damaged few Kanals of maize fields and a portion of Khelani – Marmat road in Prabbal area of Tehsil Marmat ,” an official of the district administration said.
” Teachers were asked to not to allow the students to move from the schools as cloudburst triggered flash floods in the area,” Officer added. Cloudbursts have been hitting areas in Doda district with an alarming frequency during the past few days. Three shops were buried under debris at Ramgarh (Baggar) yesterday and Batote – Kishtwar highway remain closed for 12 hours after multiple cloudbursts hit the area.
Later troops of Rashtriya Rifles joined by locals started rescue operation and managed to remove the debris from a portion of the road and made useable by evening.
However, there is no report regarding loss of any life.
