JAMMU: The sleuths of Excise Department Kathua on Friday destroyed 2850 Kg of Lahan, 116 bottles and 60 pouches of illicit liquor made from Lahan during a raids at various villages of the district.
The Excise Team Kathua under the command of ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication and Enforcement Wing Jammu Suresh Sharma raided the Keengdayal, Sitdayal, Dadoli, Jakhbardambra, Maichak, Chartyala, Ladwal, Parsochak, Kundechak, Dhabwal and Saktachak areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. In the process more than 2850 kilo grams of Lahan, 116 bottles and 60 pouches of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly injurious to health was recovered by the raiding team which was later destroyed by the team on spot.
Further, one person namely Seema, wife of Amir Chand of Parsochak was arrested under Section 48 of the J&K Excise Act, 1958. One working still was also seized and later destroyed by the raiding team.
