‘Govt to restore glory of winter seasonal flower garden, Zanana Park’

SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Floriculture Priya Sethi on Thursday said that at Bhour Camp, Floriculture Department developed Winter Seasonal Flower Garden by expending Rs.3.30 crore from 2007 to 2014, adding that the Garden was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on 31st March, 2008.
The minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Ramesh Arora in the Legislative Council.
The minister said that the flood of September, 2014 damaged the garden to a great extent. She said that layout of more than 225 Kanals of area has been taken up in the Phase-I and accordingly, the development of landscape has been started in consultation with a reputed Landscape Architect-cum-Consultant teacher from School of Planning and Architect, New Delhi. She said that development of the Phase-I is expected to be completed by the end of October, this year.
Priya Sethi said that Engineering Wing of the Department of Floriculture has allotted the work of chain link fencing, besides tenders have been floated for installation of 5 borewells.
The minister further informed that steps have been taken on war footing basis for development and upkeep of the Maharaja Hari Singh Zanana Park so that its pristine glory is restored.
