Heavy landslide hits Bagger area;Batote-Doda-Kishtwar reopens for one way traffic, 350 stranded vehicles cleared

BHADARWAH: The 110 Km long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH1B), which got closed since last night, reportedly due to cloudbursts resulting in mudslides and shooting stones following landslide in Bagger area, was reopened for one way traffic after 12 hours on Thursday and around 350 stranded vehicles were cleared by the traffic authorities.
The National Highway 1B (NH1B) connecting twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar with rest of the Country got closed at 9:00 pm yesterday after a sudden cloudburst triggered flash floods in several Nallahs in Ramgarh area of Bagger resulting in huge amount of debris at a couple of places. Three vegetable sheds were also buried under mud at main market Ramgarh(Bagger).
“350 passenger vehicles and load carriers got stucked on both sides of the highway in Baggar area, 38km from Doda after landslides hit at three places within 1 km stretch from Main Market Ramgarh to Crusher point at 9 pm yesterday,” said DTI NH1B Shabir Ahmed.
“Concerned authorities started restoration work since wee hours this morning, and at 9:30 AM, we were able to restore the road partially for one way traffic. 350 stranded passenger vehicles and some load carriers carrying essential commodities were also cleared. It will take at least another 12 hours to restore the road completely,” DTI added. According to reports, three sheds were also got completely demaged due to heavy landslides at main market Ramgarh (Bagger).
