JAMMU:Due to prolonged hearing of much publicised Canal Power House case in the Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, the hearing on the Public Interest Litigation filed by Advocate Ankur Sharma about encroachment of forest land by BJP Minister A G Kohli was not taken up on Monday.
However, today when the Court time was over, Advocate Ankur Sharma, petitioner in the PIL in person, made a mention before the Division Bench for listing this matter tomorrow in view of the urgency involved.
He further submitted that the report of the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has indicted the BJP’s Minister and established his involvement in the land grab for commercial purposes.
The DB looking into the last working week and the importance of the issue directed the registry to list this PIL higher in the cause list, immediately after vacations. Today, this PIL was listed at serial number 50.
The High Court is closing on June 12 upto June 26 following the summer vacations.
Talking to STATE TIMES, Advocate Ankur Sharma said that Kohli has got three weeks breathing time. “If court will seek the joint demarcation report which is being hushed up by the revenue department for obvious reason, the truth will emerge and BJP minister shall have to vacate the land,” he said.
Advocate Ankur Sharma had filed a written complainant before SVO against A.G Kohli, Minister and officers/officials of Revenue and Forest Department alleging therein that the minister grabbed more than 10 Kanals of forest land under Khasra No. 356/Min, situated at Nowabad, Sunjwan, Jammu and has constructed a multi story building complex where from he is running Educational Institutions i.e. B.Ed/ETT College, Para-Medical Institution, B.N School and ATM of J&K Bank.
The complaint further alleges that the land is not proprietaral, but belonges to forest department in Revenue Village Sunjwan, Jammu.
A G Kohli has stated this in all his papers prepared to seek various NoCs to run commercial activities on this land. The DFO Jammu also in his report has mentioned that Khasra No. 356/Min is forest land, informed petitioner Ankur Sharma.
