Dogra Group of Institutions announces scholarships for meritorious students

JAMMU: Announcing the scholarships for meritorious students and free-ships for the bright but poor students, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Group of Institutions, informed that the Dogra Educational Trust has been striving hard for the last 50 years to nurture the talent, which ever faith or strata of the society they come from it is an effort to transform the society.
He further elaborated that those who have secured 75 per cent or more marks in the qualifying examination shall be granted scholarship of Rs 5,000 in the first year at the time of admission and shall continue if the student continues to score 75 per cent or more marks in the subsequent years as well.
“The students who obtain 75 per cent or more marks in the respective university examination during the course of study irrespective of their initial score, are also entitled for scholarship of Rs 5,000 for the respective year of the course only,” he told reporters.
The chairman, elaborated that 3 per cent of the enrollment in Dogra Group of Colleges shall be awarded ‘Means Cum Merit Scholarship’ from the session 2016-17.
In this category, he said, top merit (not below 75 per cent) based on the score in the qualifying exam from board/university, if joins in any of the Dogra Group of Colleges and whose parent’s income is less than Rs 75,000 per annum from all means, shall be offered free-ships to pursue their career in Law, B.Ed, B.A, B.Com and BBA.
“Dogra Educational Trust has also decided to honour the outstanding achiever in the Dogra Law College as Law Genius who scores overall first position in the aggregate in the University of Jammu with ‘Maluk Law Genius Gold Medal Award’ which carries a gold medal and cash prize of Rs 15,000,” he said adding that the award has been constituted to pay tributes to Subedar Maluk Singh who was a native of Bassi Kalan (Birpur), Bari Brahmana.
Likewise, to honour the outstanding teacher in the making, a B.Ed student if completes his/her two years course from the Dogra College of Education and scores first position in the aggregate from the University of Jammu shall also be awarded Matushri Gold Medal for the Best Teacher Trainee, which shall also carry gold medal and cash award of Rs 15,000.
This Matushri Gold Medal Award, has been constituted to pay tributes to Lakho Devi, wife of Subedar Maluk Singh.
Others present in the conference were Surekha Charak, Uma Katal, Samar Dev Singh Charak, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Trustees, S.C Khajuria Director, Shefali Sharma, Dr. Komila Aggarwal, Anita Bhatia and Devinder Kour Principals.
