Hike in petrol, diesel prices
Dear Editor,
One of the factors responsible for burden of paying more for everything of daily use is hike in petrol and diesel prices. The people of J and K have to suffer with double ton of paying more for everything. On one hand we have been burdened by the Central Government by price rise in petrol, diesel and non-subsidized LPG cylinders and on the other hand, State Government has also slapped hike in toll tax. How we can keep our mouth shut in not cursing the BJP government at both spheres. This has clearly been established that this BJP government is hell bent to crush the common man who has not seen even a single day of relief from this government. The cooking in the kitchen of common man is shrinking due to sky high rates of essential commodities. Can we ask the government to suggest how a common man can survive with lucrative schemes of Modi jee such as ‘Make in India’, Start up India’, ‘Digital India’ and many more, if he is not in a position to purchase even few grams of daily food for surviving. The petrol and diesel prices frequently hiked by BJP government expose the real face as during UPA government, whenever any such hike was announced, this BJP used to call Bharat Bandhs and by forcible shutdowns used to put the common life into great hardships. Some of the instances are; on 31st May 2012, the BJP called nationwide Bandh in protest against petrol price hike. This was increased by Rs 7.50 in third week of May 2012. The people suffered a lot mostly in states having BJP majority and normal life was put to shackles. A ‘Jan Sangarsh Abhiyan’ launched by BJP on 7th June, 2012 was culminated by ‘Jail Bharo’ protest against petrol price hike on 22nd Jun 2012. This was a campaign against price rise in petrol, diesel, essential commodities and corrupt practices of Manmohan government. In September 2012 diesel prices by Rs 5 per litre were hiked it was described as a cruel joke and ‘mortal blow’ on the common man and farmers. BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that “This is a cruel joke on the common man in the country. It has hit farmers hard. We will not allow this hike. We will not allow this government to loot the common man like this”. The way government is increasing prices of petrol, diesel and LPG despite a reduction in international crude prices, it is clear-cut case of conspiracy with the ‘petrolium mafia’. Another BJP leader Ananth Kumar said, “we strongly protest against the steep hike and condemn it. It will have a cascading effect on inflation and price rise. It will hit common man, farmers and the labourers”. On a hike of Rs1.40 in March 2013, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Partap Rudy termed the hike in petrol price as a ‘betrayal’ with the people. He further said that the country is already reeling under price rise and the hike in petrol prices will further hit them.
The remind of these statements is to aware these BJP leaders and ministers that now when their government has taken price rise of essential commodities to high sky, have made life of a common man a hell, where are their feelings now. If this is not their befooling character than what else?
