SRINAGAR: Five persons died while nine others were injured in different road accidents in Leh and Srinagar on Thursday.
Five persons were killed and seven injured when a truck carrying labourers overturned in Leh district of Ladakh region, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday near Shayok Rong in Nyoma area, 150 kms from Leh town.
Four persons died on the spot in the incident, while eight others sustained injuries, a police official said. One of the injured succumbed to injuries at a local hospital this morning, the official added.
The deceased included the driver of the truck.
In Budgam, a Swift car bearing registration number JK04B-1712 met with an accident at Koran Nalla Charisharief, resulting in injuries to a person identified as Abdul Aziz Rather son of Kadoos Rather resident of Dalwan. He was shifted to hospital for treatment.
In Bandipora, an accident took place between a Scooter bearing registration number JK05D-7588 and a Maruti bearing registration number JK15-0221 near Higher Secondary School Watapora,resulting in injuries to the scooter rider. The injured was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Police have registered the cases in this regard.
