JAMMU: Lambasting certain MLAs and in particular Ringzin Jora who contemplated to introduce Private Members Bill in the Legislative Assembly on the issue of Reservation in Promotions, Joint Action Committee (General Category) today decided to hold protest against such MLAs in on 29th May at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, here.
“The action of these MLAs speaks volumes of the brewing hatred among them against general category masses and they have breached the oath of Constitution taken by them while assuming the charge,” Ved Prakash Sharma, Convenor Joint Action Committee (JAC) and President Brahman Sabha told reporters.
Expressing serious concern and displeasure over the conduct of these MLAs who have been voted to power by all of us irrespective of caste, colour and creed, Sharma said now their approach has become partisan as is evident from the fact that they are trying to bring amendments to overrule the justice delivered by judicial system after thorough scrutiny of rules/ merits of case in vogue. After 11 years of relentless struggle High Court quashed the Reservation in Promotion Rules and held them unconstitutional.
Mentioning that in (Indira Sawhney Vs Union of India), Supreme Court had declared the Reservation in Promotions as unconstitutional, he said, however, successive governments for vote bank politics have followed appeasement policies and passed amendments and put the general category masses on backburner.
Joint Action Committee warned the political parties and their MLAs to refrain from playing vote bank politics and act on the sacred oath of Constitution which they have taken.
“The general category people forms nearly 70 per cent population of the State and any step of the political parties to muzzle the voice of general category people and undermining the judicial verdict shall be suicidal and all such MLAs shall be thrown out of power and a new political alternative shall be given to general category people,” he said.
Vinod Gupta President Central Mahajan Sabha, Narayan Singh, President Raput Sabha, convenors of Joint Action Committee from Kathua Ankur Sharma, Ravi Khajuria from Samba and Udhampur Districts were also present.
