APHCC asks BJP legislators to pass Shrine Bill in ensuing Assembly session
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: The All Party Hindu Co-ordination Committee (APHCC) on Tuesday asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators to pass the Hindu Shrines Bill during the ongoing Assembly session in Srinagar failing which threatened to launch an agitation.
It is pertinent to mention here that APHCC members Vinod Pandit and Sunita Sharma had sat on hunger strike for 11 days in October 2011 which was called off by assurance of Congress leader R.S Chib who had assured to pass the Bill in the State Assembly. “APHCC members had staged hunger strike demanding passage of J and K Hindu Shrines and Religious Places (Management and Regulation) Bill in October 2011 in which BJP leaders also extended support for the same,” said Rajiv Mahajan, Spokesperson of the Committee and State President, Shri Ram Sena, in a meeting held here today.
However, he said, now 25 BJP MLAs are in State Assembly so they should forcibly raise the voice for passage of Bill in ensuing Assembly session.
“If they fail to pass the Bill in this session then we will be forced to launch an agitation in the Jammu,” said Rajiv Mahajan. All the members unanimously nominated Rajiv Mahajan as Convenor of APHCC and Sunita Sharma as Co-convenor.
