Sports Council felicitates Foil Fencer for representing in World C’ship

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council on Monday felicitated Foil fencer Mohammad Tariq, who participated in the ‘Fleuret De St Petersbourg’ FIE Fencing World Cup Senior (Individual competition) recently held at St Petersburg, Russia from 13th to 15th May.
Son of Sheel Mohammad, a resident of village Tikri, Udhampur, Tariq represented India in the Foil event, which is one of the prestigious tournaments in the World.
Joint Secretary State Sports Council Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, felicitated the fencer at a function organised at Sports Council office here this morning.
Shiv Sharma lauded the efforts of the ace fencer for his participation at the International level in fencing.
Congratulating him for his representation at the World level platform, Sharma hoped that the fencer (Tariq) would touch new heights in fencing if he continue playing with the same zeal.
He also appreciated the fencing coach Rachna Jamwal for outstanding performance and acting as a guiding force for the budding and upcoming fencers in the state besides those who are being trainer by her.
He said that the efforts of the Rachna Jamwal made State fencers to represent at national as well as international level fencing events.
Others present on the occasion included Sports Officer Rajan Sharma, former General Secretary, J and K Fencing Association, Vijay Sharma, Manager Indoor Stadium, Satish Sharma and Fencing Coach Shotu Lal.
