Dy CM for early completion of power transmission network

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh on Sunday called for timely completion of the upgradation work of power transmission network to augment the electricity supply in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of new transmission line being laid from Samba to Amargarh.
Earlier, the Dy CM inspected the grid station at Jatwal in Samba district of Jammu division.
Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore, MLA, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, Chief Engineer PDD and senior officers of PDD and Power Grid Corporation of India were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister while asking for synergizing efforts for early completion of the transmission line said that by doing PDD would be able to supply additional 100 MWs of electricity to different parts of the Jammu division. He asked the officers of the Power Grid Corporation of India to hold regular meetings with PDD so that the bottlenecks, if any, are removed and the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Dr Singh said that necessary instructions would be also passed to the concerned Deputy Commissioners so that the land acquisition cases and other related issues are speeded up. He said the timely completion of this prestigious project is essential for the power sector of the state as it would increase the transmission capability to a large extent.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed for immediate completion of the Line-In-Line-Out (LILO) as it would also increase transmission capacity of Samba Power Grid Station which would in turn provide additional electricity to different parts of Jammu.
Dr Singh also directed the officers to explore the possibility of taking the transmission lines through the various tunnels like Zojilla, Nashri etc and prepare the requisite Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). He said that he would take up the issue with the concerned Ministries at the Central level.
The Power Grid Corporation of India also made a power point presentation about the status of transmission lines being constructed by it and other projects.
The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the Samba 400/220 KVA Sub-Station and directed the officers to ensure that it is augmented properly by providing the requisite material as may be needed.
