Rich tributes paid to Rajiv Gandhi

JAMMU: To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, the State Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee organised a ‘Shradhanjli Samaroh’ here on Saturday.
A blood donation camp was also organised on the occasion to mark the day as Balidan Divas. A total of 86 Congressmen donated blood in the camp.
The main function was attended by hundreds of workers including Mahila workers, which was presided over by Sham Lal Sharma Senior Vice President while several senior functionaries of PCC and senior leaders including Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram , Kanta Bhan , Jahangir Mir (Dy. Chairman LC), Ravinder Sharma , Yogesh Sawhney, Rajnesh Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Shah Mohammad Choudhary, Namrata Sharma, Indu pawar, Anil Chopra, Arun Singh, Ashok Gupta, Ex MlAs G.L Chalotra, Shiv Dev Singh, Ashok Dogra, Kirshan Bhagat, Y.B Shamra, B.S Sambyal, Sashi Sharma, Kuldeep Verma, Neeraj Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Jai Singh, Pankaj Dogra, Kulbir Singh, Gurdarshan Singh, Surinder Gupta, Anuradha Andotra,Vandana Sharma, Nadeem Niaz, Hari Singh Chib, Dr. R.K Khajuria, Ch. Sukhdev Singh, B.B Gupta, Ashok Bakshi and Gajan Singh paid rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated on this day in 1991.
Addressing the gathering, Sham Lal lashed out at the political vendetta of the BJP and Modi Government against the Congress Party and its leadership by misleading the people by twisting facts and history but asserted that they are day dreaming as Congress Party is still strong enough to counter the propaganda and would stage a comeback in future.
Meanwhile, Srinagar unit of PCC organised a blood donation camp which was inaugurated by JKPCC Chief, G.A Mir.
On this occasion 62 Congress activists donated blood.
