KATRA: Police on Saturday foiled a liquor smuggling attempt by seizing 650 pouches of liquor from a car, however driver managed to escape from the spot.
Acting on a specific information, a police team headed by SI Mohd Ashraf, In-Charge Police Station Katra laid a Naka near Police Check Post Balini and during checking, police recovered of 650 pouches of J and K Excise liquor from an Alto Car bearing registration No.JK02AJ/1879. The accused namely Gurbachan Singh son of Baldev Singh resident of Dera Bhabbar Tehsil and District Reasi fled away from the spot and efforts are on to nab him.
The recovered poly pouches of liquor have been seized and the car which was used for transportation of liquor has also been seized. A case vide FIR No. 84/2016 under section 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC was registered at Police Station Katra.
