Avoid over speeding, overloading: SP Traffic Rural tells transporters

JAMMU: Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Jammu emphasised upon the transport union members to avoid over speeding and overloading in their Passenger Service Vehicles (PSVs) which cause frequent accidents or else stern action will be taken against these violators under law.
In order to improve the traffic management system in Samba and Kathua Districts, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Jammu, Dushyant Sharma here on Thursday.
He added that mostly PSVs use shrill horns and violate their route permits which is heinous violation of Motor Vehicle Act/ Rules and warrants a deterrent action under law. He directed the members of the unions to stop such practices which cause inconvenience to the general public and strictly obey the traffic rules.
The participants were also intimated that the Traffic Police Rural has installed speed limit boards in all four districts falling under the jurisdiction of Traffic Rural Jammu (Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch) from place to place for awareness of the drivers so the owners should brief the drivers to ensure the compliance. It was also conveyed to all the members of these transport unions that the buses either interstate or within State unauthorizedly write ‘Superfast Board’ on their vehicles to catch the attention of passengers and ply with very high speed, the members were directed to ensure not to display such ‘Superfast Boards’ on their buses and can only display the boards ‘2×2 or 2×3’ buses as permitted by the Transport Authority.
J.S Sumbrian, Dy.SP Traffic Samba-Kathua and Yogesh Bamba, Sr. Pros. Officer, who was also present in the meeting, assured strict implementation of the directions on ground.
All union members ensured full cooperation and strict compliance of traffic rules besides shall take all preventative measures to save the precious human lives from loss.
Prominent union members who were present in the meeting include Narinder Jamwal, Jash Manhas, Abinandan Manhas, Kamal Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Kuldip Singh and Pawan Gupta.
