POONCH : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch on Thursday rejected the traders’ demand for sending extra number of vehicles to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) through Chakan-da-Bagh loaded with Banana and other trade items, these being from a selective group of traders.
A deputation of traders headed by Pawan Anand President Cross Border Traders Association called on Deputy Commissioner Poonch on Thursday and sought permission for sending 13 extra vehicles, ie total 43 vehicles as against the sanctioned number of 30 vehicles.
Since other members of the Traders Association were not present in the deputation, the DC called the General Secretary of the Association Krishan Singh and heard their views. The General Secy Krishan Singh in the presence of President Pawan Anand brought to the notice of DC that only one group of traders is operating the trade while total 303 traders are registered for the cross border trade. He said that hundreds of other traders are kept idle with the monopoly of few. He said that the permission now sought for these 13 additional vehicles also for the same group.
General Secretary Krishan Singh suggested that all the registered traders should get chance to carryout trade and send their vehicles through Chakan-da-Bagh in rotation so that the roaster approved by authorities is properly followed. The DC refused the permission for the addition vehicles and issued instruction to follow the approved roster properly.
